Team News
Rowner's 1st and 2nd team captains announced their choices of vice-captain on Saturday 23rd January, with Rowner batsman Rob Bowman being selected by Jim Kemp as 1st XI deputy, and Rowner young gun Luke Watson being selected as number 2 for the 2nds. Congratulations to both - they will undoubtedly have a big part to play in ensuring success for both sides this season. Both Rob and Luke will be captaining for the fixtures on Saturday 19th June, and Luke will also take over the captaincy when Cris is away on holiday with his family. Rob will share in a dual captaincy role with Jim Kemp, as work committments are likley to limit Jim's appearances this season. Luke, at age 19, has become the youngest ever Rowner player to be appointed permanent vice-captain in the league and will also become the second youngest ever to captain Rowner in the league, behind Ian Collins who captained in 1874 aged 18! Good luck to both.
PROVIDE US A SAMPLE!
Lyndon has arranged for samples of cricket gear to be available to inspect on the evening of the 13th March, the pre-season gathering night at the Civil Service Club! Another good reason to come along, have a drink or two and meet up with friends and teammates before the rigours of the season. Hopefully see you there!
OUR MAN IN AFGHANISTAN....
The club is immensely proud of Tom Stevens, who is currently serving in Afghanistan. Tom was one of the founder members of the Rowner Colts side and has played as a dogged left handed opener, as well as a useful off spin and sometimes medium pace bowler. He was also an exceptional fielder, and we hope to one day see him again grace the field at Rowner Green. Well done Tom, your old Rowner coaches are proud of what you have achieved.
